World Of Maths

Last post for Term 2!!!!!!

Yesterday we had the World Of Maths organisation in at our school. It was a lot of fun. Some of the activities that they got us to solve were really hard, we had to do a lot of thinking and work together to work the answers out. Here are some photos for you to have a look at.

Fiafia night Term 2

Last night was our second Fiafia Night for the year. We had a great turn out from our community, even though the weather was awful. 

All of the groups that performed were awesome and looked really great in their outfits. 

We would like to thank everyone involved for putting this event together, to help fund-raise for us Year 8 students.

Matariki celebration day

On Tuesday 14^th June 2016, the hardworking Room 10 and Room 20 students gathered together and split into two mixed groups. Half of us worked with Whaea Ata and made some marvellous stars out of ribbon. The other half worked with Miss Jones and got to chill together to create some tremendous koru art. It was a great way to spend the morning.

After break we went for a walk around the school checking out each class’s fabulous Matariki work they had completed. There was some really impressive displays and we loved seeing what everyone has learnt and how they decided to present their learning, everyone was unique.

To finish the day we closed with a whole school assembly. (I think we need to work on our singing of the Matariki song, but I’m sure we will be better next year J).

We would like to thank Ma Cynthia for organising the day and to all the teachers for all the hard work they put in to making these events possible. We are really lucky to come to Clendon Park School.

Rugby

Counties Rugby Tournament 

Friday 3^rd June, our school team competed in the Counties rugby tournament and placed 2^nd. The day was full of hard tackles, quick side steps and forceful scrums. Some of the teams we versed were Randwick Park School, Wiri School and Finlayson School. We found Randwick Park a tough team as they were the winners from previous years, but we managed to draw with them. Overall it was an awesome day and we are really proud of our results.

We would like to thank our coaches for all the hard work they put into our team. Thanks to Matua Fou, Mr Dawson, T-Rex and Tane.

My highlight was when I scored a try against the Randwick team. (Paea)

Amazing start to Term 2

Kia ora everyone,

Welcome back to our blog for Term 2. We have a lot of exciting things coming up, so keep checking in to see what we get up to. 

So far this term some of us have been out to a soccer tournament and we played really well. Our school always has a really good attitude on and off the field.

Some of us were chosen to go to the Auckland Writers Festival which was held at the Town Hall in the city. some of us were lucky enough to go to the workshops, we got a lot of great ideas from that like how to use a sporting event to write a really creative piece of text.

We have also started Rippa Rugby training. We had our first session last Friday and it was awesome. Here are some shots that Miss Jones took while we were having fun. 

These boys had to do the birdie dance because they were the last to sit down. :)

Zoo Trip

Hi everyone,

Last week our class went to the Auckland Zoo to learn about the endangered animals that they have; as that is our current topic.

We had guided sessions with zoo keeper John. He talked to us about the orangutan and tiger and we learnt what is causing these animals to become endangered and possibly in the very near future extinct.

We would like to say another big thank you to all of our parent helpers, without you this trip wouldn't have been possible. :)
